What Is Included in a Complete Kitchen Remodel? (Part 2)

Knowing what to expect when remodeling a kitchen can take away much of the anxiety caused by the unknown of a major construction project. The professionals at MasterWorks Painters have completed a multitude of kitchen renovations and are ready to help you with yours. Let’s continue last month’s blog post by looking at the remaining steps in completing a kitchen remodeling project.

Install and Paint Drywall

Hanging drywall can be a complicated and difficult job. It not only requires installation, but mudding and sanding as well. If this process seems overwhelming, you can always split up the job. Have a professional hang and mud the drywall, then you can paint the walls afterward.

Install Kitchen Flooring

There are a wide variety of materials from which you can choose for your new kitchen flooring. The latest trend is environmentally friendly materials. These include cork flooring, bamboo flooring, recycled carpeting, linoleum flooring, and eco-friendly wood flooring.

Hang Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen cabinets need to be securely attached to each other, the wall, and the floor. Hiring a professional contractor will ensure the cabinets are installed properly, and remain level and flush. Be sure to double check the placement of each cabinet with the installer before they are hung.

Install Kitchen Counters and Backsplash

Countertops and backsplash can be installed at the same time if they both are made from the same material. If you custom-ordered countertops, allow them to settle for a few days before adding the backsplash. A heavier counter may cause an unsightly gap between the two materials if time is not given for the countertop to settle.

Add Kitchen Appliances, Faucets, and Hardware

There are many choices in hardware and faucet finishes, such as brass, brushed nickel, and gold-tone. When it comes to appliances, you can save on your renovation budget by re-using the appliances you already own. However, investing in high-end appliances will dramatically increase the value of your newly renovated kitchen.
